Community groups are joining to press the City Council not to make drastic cutbacks toSacramento's city parks budget.
Faced with a $50 million deficit, the city is proposing to cut 35 percent from the Department of Parks and Recreation budget.
Among the proposed cutbacks: Grass would be mowed every three weeks instead of weekly; 60 maintenance workers would face layoffs; trash would be picked up less frequently; and bathrooms would be closed except during special events. more...
